Winter Skincare!
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas…………. This time of year can really affect the skin so having a good skincare routine can really help. Dryness and dehydration are common at this time of year. See our winter top tips to guide you through the season.
1 – Facial Oil
Double up with a facial oil morning and night for added hydration followed by your daily moisturiser. Facial oils work through all layers of the skin, whereas moisturisers only treat the outer layer. My go to facial oils are Rose and Frankincense. Two to three drops to cover the face and neck (avoiding the eye area). As a weekly treat why not give yourself a mini facial massage using a few more drops of oil. Book one of my workshop to learn facial techniques.
2 – Balm
Short on time and can only manage one extra skincare routine? Look no further and go for a facial balm. My favourite (which I higher recommend) is the Neal’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm. Small amount warmed between your fingers and gently apply to the face and neck. This balm is like a spa in a jar. There’s literally nothing this balm can’t do. I use it as a leave on mask at night and also before going on a forest walk to protect my skin from wind burn.
3 – Hand & Nail Care
Pay particular attention to your hands this time of year. As a weekly treat apply a rich intense moisturiser or balm to the hands, wrap up hands and leave the product to soak in for 15-30 minutes and massage in the access. Apply hand lotion as much as possible. My top balm for hands would be the Bee Lovely All Over Balm by Neal’s Yard Remedies. Look after your hands and nails by wearing gloves.
4 – Hair Care
Our hair really takes a battering in winter. One minute its raining, next its windy, some of us have snow and then we have the odd sunny day. I highly recommend sleeping with a natural oil massage in dry hair (coconut or argan oil) or if preferred a leave in mask once per week. This really helps to nourish the hair. Increasing your intake of Omega 3 oil.
5 – Inner health
Vitamin D is an important supplement for aiding bone health and supporting your immune system. Vitamin C and Zinc boosts the skin and immune health. Start the day off with a bowl of fresh berries and for the Zinc having a handful of nuts and seeds as a snack. Otherwise you can supplement if feel you aren’t reaching higher enough levels. One of my favourites is the BetterYou Immune Health Spray (Children’s one available too). It goes without saying to keep hydrated with plenty of water.
