Winter Skincare!

Autumn is well and truly here, with the sharp drop in temperature making us turn on the heating. This can play real havoc with our skin. Here are our autumnal skincare top tips to see you through the season.

1 – Add more moisture

Autumn is the time to switch from your light moisturiser to a heavier one. Give your skin a good drink and bring back your facial glow. Double up with a facial oil for a ‘sandwich’ hydrating effect. Facial oil is absorbed deeper into the skin whereas a moisturiser will only hydrate the surface layer, so the two complement each other. My personal favourite for autumn is Rose Facial Oil with the Frankincense Hydrating Cream.

2 – Exfoliate regularly

Exfoliating regularly helps to remove dead skin cells that can hinder the absorption of facial oils and moisturisers. Ideally exfoliate your skin once or twice per week, using products that don’t include harsh exfoliants. For a final hydrating boost follow with a face mask.

3 – Hand care

Remember your hands! They are exposed to all of the elements and we often neglect them in the cooler months. Why not give your hands a weekly treat using an exfoliator? Melissa Hand Polish is perfect for this.
Apply the hand polish to the hands, massage in gently, remove with water and apply either a balm or cream.

4- Lip care

Lips often become chapped, sore and dry during autumn. It’s very tempting to use a product with petroleum jelly, however this can lead to black heads and blocked pores. Bee Lovely Lip Balm with its organic honey and moisturising cocoa butter is my personal fav.

5 – Inner health

The best way to hydrate your skin (the largest organ of the body) is with H2O. Two litres per day will keep you hydrated. Most of us rarely reach this daily goal. Skin can become dry, flaky and dull when not sufficiently hydrated losing it’s natural glow. Boosting your immune system with vitamins C and D and increasing your zinc levels will benefit yours skin.
